The MDC- T in Bulawayo has called for the non-governmental organizations and lawyers for human rights organizations to come together and file law suit against government and the minister of educations Lazarus Dokora over the hiking of Ordinary Level examinations and introduction of grade seven registration fees.
MDC-T deputy spokesperson Felix Mafa Sibanda said the government's move was a violation of children's rights to education and must be stopped forthwith.
This was after Dokora announced on Friday that the examination fees for ‘O' Level has been increased from $13 to 15 while he announced that grade sevens will now pay registration fees before writing examinations.
Mafa Sibanda called for the Non-governmental organizations and Human Rights lawyers to come together and sue the ministry and government over violation of children's rights to education.
He said the government should be taking advantage on the diamonds to fund education than targeting the poor people who have no source of income yet it known that it has created a vending society.
"NGOs and lawyers for human rights must notice that this is a clear violation of children's rights to education and file a law suit against the government and the minister," he said. "The government must reverse the move with immediate effect because this will result to a massive drop out from schools as many children will not be able to pay for examinations and will not write."
