Finance minister Patrick Chinamasa on Monday refused to respond to questions in Bulawayo on the controversial ban on sale of second hand clothes.
Chinamasa is in the city attending SADC joint meeting of Finance ministers and Central bank governors.
Last week, said the ban was with immediate effect.
"This is not the platform for me to respond to your question. If you insist I will walk away. Let's not steal the thunder from this important SADC meeting," he told stunned journalists.
Chinamasa had been given an outline of questions to respond to by ZBC Bulawayo reporter Josephine Mugiyo.
Second hand clothes mostly come into the country through the Mutare Mozambique border and are sold at very low prices.
Zimbabwe Revenue Authority commissioner general Gershem Pasi told Parliament recently that taxation on clothing was too high prompting people buy second-hand clothes.
