Four MPs on the run

FOUR legislators wanted by the Anti-Corruption Commission on allegations of abusing the Community Development Fund have allegedly gone into hiding.
Officials from the Anti-Corruption Commission said it is almost two weeks since they have been looking for the four MPs who are no longer residing at their homes.
"Some of them are no longer staying at their homes and we believe that they are on the run. We are still looking for them and the net will soon close in on them," said an Anti Corruption Commission official.
It is believed that some of those who have been arrested were trapped.
Last Thursday, Pumula legislator Albert Mhlanga (MDC-T) was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission officials, on allegations of abusing the Community Development Fund.
Mhlanga was accused of failing to account for US$7 000 from the US$50 000 initially given to him.
He has also allegedly failed to explain three other transactions.
In one instance, he reportedly transferred US$32 000 to Bulawayo Plumbers, a company which he owns and which he claims supplied goods, when it had not.
In another transaction, he is said to have transferred US$9 000 into a bank account in the name of Alex Company.
A further US$2 000 was transferred to his friend's company, Silver Sharp.
Last Monday, Magunje legislator Franco Ndambakuwa (Zanu-PF) was arrested on allegations of failing to account for US$39 000 from the US$50 000 he received to develop his constituency.
A week before, the MDC-T MP for St Mary's, Marvelous Khumalo, was also arrested on the same charges. Khumalo is accused of buying himself a lorry and pocketing part of the money. He claimed to have used part of the funds to sink a borehole in his constituency, but in fact this had been done by an NGO.
