I have no 'gentleman deal' with Mugabe - Mnangagwa

Defence minister and Zanu-PF's Legal Affairs Secretary Emmerson Mnangagwa has denied reports that he entered into a "gentleman's deal" with President Robert Mugabe which would see him succeeding the octogenarian leader.
A British newspaper 'The Telegraph' during Mugabe's recent Singapore visit alleged that the 88-year-old president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe had struck a secret "gentleman's agreement" to hand over power in to his feared defence minister, Emmerson Mnangagwa.
According to 'The Telegraph', insiders say that Mugabe will stand as Zanu-PF's candidate in elections one last time before handing over to Mr Mnangagwa, a former spy chief nicknamed "The Crocodile" for his ruthless reputation.
Mnangagwa who was delivering a public lecture at Midlands State University, blamed Zanu-PF enemies for such false reports. Mnangagwa said the reports were meant to weaken the party by causing mistrust within Zanu-PF leadership.
"These are efforts by our detractors to cause mistrust within our leadership. However I think people are so mature as to know these mechanisations," said Mnangagwa.
"The reports are also a product manufactured by the media," added Mnangagwa.
