Marauding lions believed to have escaped from the Save Conservency have wrecked havoc in Chikore, Bangira and Tafara villages in Chipinge district killing livestock, state controlled ZBC News reported.
District Administrator for Chipinge, Mr Noel Mundeta said villagers are now living in fear of the lions and are calling upon officials from the National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority to act urgently.
Mr Mundeta said the pride of lions has killed livestock which includes cattle and goats.
He said they have teamed up with members of the wildlife management authority to try and track down the lions but no meaningful progress has been achieved as they could not find them.
Meanwhile, Mr Mundeta is urging villagers in the affected villages of Chipinge District to be vigilant and stop moving at night and early morning as this is the time the lions usually move
