The handover of cars for Miss Zimbabwe winners will be delayed because the models do not have drivers' licences, it has emerged.
The 22-year-old beauty Thabiso Phiri, who was crowned Miss Zimbabwe, will get a Chevrolet Cruze while First Princess Tenda Hunda and Second Princess Letwin Chinomona will receive Chevrolet Spark Lite each.
Miss Zimbabwe Trust chairperson Marry Chiwenga said they will hand over the cars after the three models get licenced.
"We will give them the cars if they get licences and today we are going to buy a Highway Code for Miss Zimbabwe so that she starts her driving lessons," she said.
She said they were expecting her to finish her driving lessons by next week. "I am sure that by Thursday she will have a provisional driver's licence and from there she can get the driver's licence," she said.
Marry did not say anything about when the First and Second Princess will get their driver's licence. However, the three winners will receive their cash prizes this Friday at the Miss Zimbabwe Trust offices.
"The guys at our offices are working on that and on Friday we are going to hand over the cash prizes to the winners," she said. She could not reveal the figures saying they have not yet finalised on the figures the models will get.
"We are still to finalise and it explains why we could not say about that on the day of the show," she said.
The Miss Zimbabwe 2014 was fully subscribed although the exact number of guests who shelled out the $300 per ticket entrance fee could not be ascertained.
Thabiso said she was overwhelmed by the victory and promised to represent Zimbabwe well at Miss World in December.
"I cannot believe this and I am filled with joy. This has given me courage to represent Zimbabwe well in Miss World in December," said Phiri.
Running under the theme "Taking Zim-Asset to Greater Heights" the beauty show lived to its billing as it brought people together in an exciting night of entertainment and surprises.
Jah Prayzah, Alick Macheso, Trevor Dongo, Cynthia Mare, Sulumani Chimbetu, David "Apama" Machowa and Amazulu Dance group took turns to entertain the crowd.
