The Zanu PF Midlands leadership has made a passionate plea to people in the province to stop personalising Acting President Emmerson Mnangagwa and accept that he is now a national leader.

The provincial executive says it has noted with concern the conduct of some people who want to personalise the newly appointed Vice President, forgetting that he is now a national leader representing every citizen.

These remarks come against a backdrop of an embarrassing incident where overzealous youths denied some Zanu PF officials from the province believed to be sympathetic to former Vice President Dr Joice Mujuru entry to Mnangagwa's celebration party.

Speaking at a Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting held in Gweru, the Acting Provincial Chairman Kizito Chivamba and the party's chief whip Jorum Gumbo said the province can celebrate the ascendency of one of their own, but should accept and take into cognisance that he is no longer a provincial leader but a statesman.

Chivamba urged party cadres to bury their differences and focus on building solid party structures at grassroots level.

Some of the Zanu PF officials who were denied entry at Mnangagwa's rural home are Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Development Fred Moyo, and the Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, Chiratidzo Iris Mabuwa.
