The Zimbabwean government and Qatar Airways are set to finalise the agreement which will see the airline plying the Harare and Victoria Falls routes.
This was revealed by the visiting Qatar business delegation after meeting the Acting President Emmerson Mnangagwa at his Munhumutapa offices in Harare.
The finalisation of the deal between the government of Zimbabwe and Qatar Airways is expected to unlock more business opportunities for both countries.
"We discussed various issues relating to business ties and we are here to ensure that we finalise the agreement between Qatar Airways and Air Zimbabwe which will see the airline plying a direct flight from Qatar to Harare," the Qatar Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Salem al-Jaber said.
The agreement for Qatar Airways to ply the Harare route will be in partnership with Air Zimbabwe.
Mr Al-Jaber noted that they are also interested in the mining, agriculture and other opportunities in the economy, indicating that mining is top priority for the delegation.
"We are much interested in diamonds, gold and copper, among other minerals. We have also set our eyes on agriculture but our major priority is on the mining sector which can be done immediately after concluding with the government of Zimbabwe," he said.
The delegation also had an opportunity to meet officials from the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development, Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Energy and Power Development.
