Indian nationals to get visas upon arrival in Zimbabwe

The Zimbabwean government has scrapped off the complicated visa regime on Indian nationals as they can now be granted visas at any legal entry point in the country.

The Information Communication Technology and Courier Services deputy minister, Jenfan Muswere, availed this information in India where he was attending the occasion of the millennial India international chamber of commerce, industry and agriculture recently.

The deputy minister who was initially attending the India Mobile Congress made time to address delegates at the event in New Delhi reiterated the Second Republic's commitment to strengthening ties with India.

"The Zimbabwe government has scrapped the cumbersome visa regime vis-à-vis Indian Nationals as they are now granted visa on arrival bat any legal entry point," Muswere said.

"The Second Republic of Zimbabwe is committed to strengthening political and economic cooperation between Zimbabwe and India. The Second Republic is committed to preserving peace and promotion of stability."

Muswere informed the Indan counterparts of the strides that have been made by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to address the economic issues in the country.

"Despite winning the General Elections with more than two thirds majority, His Excellency President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, extended the olive branch to all Presidential aspirants who contested and lost the General Elections in 2018, to form the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) in February 2019.

"POLAD is aimed at finding consensus on solving problems affecting the country and address various economic and political issues."

This comes at a time when the government has been working in partnership with India in upgrading ICT centres in rural areas to ensure women have access to information technology.
