Zanu-PF National Political Commissar Victor Matemadanda said yesterday that the formation of the Zimbabwe Non-Partisan War Veterans' Organisation by some war veterans is the democratic right of those fronting it.

"I have just been informed that such an organisation was launched today and it is their democratic right to form such an organisation if they feel it will serve their interests, but I just hope they do not forget that they are war veterans," said Matemadanda.

Speaking at the launch of the organisation in Harare yesterday, its secretary, Karen Kazingizi, called on Zimbabweans to put the country first. He said people should shun corruption.

"We are calling on all Zimbabweans to put the country first before any partisan agenda," he said.

"As Zimbabweans we need to unite and fight against corruption.

"Our nation must be united and everyone must uphold the interests of Zimbabwe first and foremost. Politicians and political parties must fight primarily to remove corruption, theft, politically motivated violence and desist from dividing our nation to fulfil individual and party egos."

The Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans' Association is the main war veterans' association composed of former combatants of the Zimbabwe African National Liberation Army and Zimbabwe People's Revolutionary Army.
