President Emmerson Mnangagwa's spokesperson faces possible arrest over pornography after the police issues a statement warning that people who posses or distribute pornographic material face prosecution.

In 2019 Charamba sparked controversy after he shared a link to a pornographic website on Twitter that he quickly deleted but not before users took screen shots of the post.

This week one of Mnangagwa's fervent supporters Kudzai Mutisi posted a screen shot of a pornographic Twitter handle that is followed by Charamba. In a statement on Wednesday, police said four men were arrested in Bulawayo after posting pronographic material on social media.

"In the past three weeks, police in Bulawayo have investigated and arrested four people over pornographic material through social social media. Ronald Nokuthula Nkala  (21) was arrested and sentenced to one month in prison for sharing pornographic material on social media," said the police in a statement.

"Tawana Makamazi 23 was also arrested fop the same offense and was sentenced for the same period. Allan Mange 938) was convicted for the same offense and sentenced to 3 months in jail or $600 fine.We have Troy Ngulube aged 52 years, his case is pending and will be appearing in court soon."

The police said the accused persons are either manufacturing, possessing or distributing pornographic material using Facebook, Twitter or Instagram accounts.

"All social media accounts are being monitored and alarm is raised when offensive material is detected, a red flag is raised and police compile dockets which have led to the arrests," said the statement.

"As the Zimbabwe Republic Police, we appeal to members of the public to objectively use social media, never abuse it, its being monitored and its an offense to send pornographic material including nude pictures or something that irritate members of the public.

"We appeal to members of the public who might not be aware that it is an offense to deal, send, transmit, transfer or posses pornographic material to desist from doing so and only use social media for productive and respectable things."
