Two armed poachers nabbed

Two armed  suspected Mbire  poachers were arraigned before Guruve resident magistrate Shingirai Mutiro yesterday.

The duo Isaac Mapfumo (36) and Brighton Penzura both from Mazambara village,Mbire pleaded not guilty to possessing fire arms and poaching.

They were remanded in custody to March 9 for trial.

Prosecutor Carson Kundiona told the court that on February 25 a team of Zimparks and police received a tip off that the duo were in possession of elephant tasks and were looking for potential buyers.

Purporting to be buyer the team lured Penzura and arrested him.

Penzura implicated Mapfumo whom he said had two guns which they used to hunt wild animals.

The team proceeded to Mapfumo's bedroom hut and identified them selves before recovering two fire arms and a plastic bag containing 19 scales of pangolin.

The fire arms and scales are being held as exhibits.
