A journalists and former Radio Zimbabwe Presenter Ezra Tshisa Sibanda has   made a passionate plea with nurses and doctors not to abandon patients just because of Covid 19 saying not all patients have the virus.

His calls come at a time when the doctors and nurses downed tools last week demanding protective clothing to be able to deal with Covid 19 patients.

Through his Facebook wall Sibanda said a plea to doctors and nurses in Zimbabwe is that they must p[lease not abandon patients in hospitals when they desperately need their care.

"Not everyone has COVID19, I know you don't have protective clothing but help other patients who don't have symptoms. You cant go on strike at this critical time ladies and gentlemen. People has been problematic in many countries including developed nations like UK & USA but their Nurses and Doctors are sacrificing and working," he said..

"The hospitals in Zimbabwe have many sick patients with various other conditions which have nothing to do with COVID19 but why are they being deserted? The situation in our hospitals is dire and needs critical thinking from the Government and all stakeholders. It's time for the Government to invite retired doctors, private doctors and retired nurses to get back to work and assist in our hospitals. We can only win the fight against COVID-19 if people are united and stop playing politics #COVID-19."
