Former Radio Zimbabwe presenter and journalist Ezra Tshisa Sibanda has said the prophets of doom would not want the fundraising for the Bulawayo health institutions like Thorngrove Isolation Centre to be successful.

This was after he started a fundrsiasing strategy with the aim of securing donations for the upgrading of the facility.

Through his Facebook Wall Sibanda said as they fundraise for the communities to help fight Coronavirus back home, prophets of doom and haters will always come out to be negative and critical to all those that try to help raise awareness and funds for the hospitals.

"Isifula sigcwaliswa yizifudlana is a Ndebele saying, loosely translated a river is filled by streams. The COVID19 situation in Zimbabwe requires the efforts of multiple players as the need on the ground is greater than anyone can comprehend," Sibanda said.

"We have seen with successful fundraisers in the UK like the recently completed Sports Relief, that fundraising for a cause works well when each one of us in our own community or networks, in our own way , encourages others to give towards a cause."

"We can have as many organisations or individuals as possible fundraising for the same cause, no problems at all with that and must be welcomed because the winners at the end of the day will be our health institutions. We are fundraising as a team for Thorngrove Hospital , the only infectious diseases hospital covering 5 provinces."

He said the hospital is in bad shape and needs everything from testing kits , protective equipment to beds.

"We are in direct communication with the hospital authorities and our fundraiser has the support of the Mayor of Bulawayo. So we encourage you, in your own way, in your community or networks, help us fundraise for the COVID-19 response in our beloved City of Bulawayo. Together we can do it, please help donate via this link good people," Sibanda said.
