PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday said Zimbabwe is on the right track and is stepping up preparations to fight coronavirus (Covid-19).

Addressing the nation yesterday afternoon, Mnangagwa said they have now put everything in place.

"Government continues to make substantial strides in enhancing national preparedness against the pandemic.

"In our hospitals, isolation centres have been established and additional health facilities identified. Meanwhile, more tests are being conducted. The number of hospital beds devoted to patients continues to increase, in readiness for a possible upsurge.

"I equally applaud researchers, inventors and developers from our universities and technical colleges who continue to work on various materials needed by our hospitals, clinics and the nation at large, in fight against Covid-19," Mnangagwa said.

This comes as the government has since tested 316 people nationwide for the virus. 307 came out negative while nine tested positive with one fatality being recorded.

Mnangagwa added that the government will make sure that health workers are fully equipped with protective clothing.
