TWO Centenary boys who drowned recently while fetching water using a ox drawn cart at Venard farm dam in Centenary have been identified.

According to Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton the two are Takudzwa Chemhere (23) and Munashe Chimutumbira (8).

"I can confirm a case of sudden death in Centenary where Takudzwa Chemhere (23) and his neighbour Munashe Chimutumbira (8) drowned while fetching water in a dam," Mundembe said.

A witness Ronika Mutekudza said they failed to control the ox drawn cart after driving it into the dam.

"The boys drove their cart in a dam and failed to control it, they jumped when they observed that the cattle were going into the deep end," she said.

"They failed to swim and were retrieved by the police subaqua unit later on the day."

Police are appelling to people to be vigilant with life and avoid conduct that endangers life near water bodies.
