PERSONS With Disability (PWDs) have demanded inclusion of disabilities bodies in the COVID -19 taskforce sighting that there is need of someone who understands their needs better.

Association of the deaf Zimbabwe (Assod)  Coordinator, Daniel Masotsha said there was a need to include disabled bodies in the COVID-19 task force.

"There is a need for inclusion of disability bodies in the Covid-19 taskforce. There are the ones who understand the needs and languages of PWDs," said Masotsha.

"Healthy workers if assigned for door to door visits, they should be accompanied by sign language interpreters so to avoid unconvincing the deaf community
there are the ones who understand the needs and languages of PWDs."

Masotsha said lockdown was a right measure to combat the spread of Covid-19, but the measures were put without taking into consideration prepared PWDs financially, food wise and combatwise.

"No mitigation measures were put down to assist the less fortunate whose livelihood was supported by the streets. No equal  access to protective cloth to PWDs for example no masks, gloves and so on,the challenges are there as to PWDs," said Masotsha.

Masotsha said they were registered to social welfare to gate cash transfer but the money is taking forever to come.
