A Bulawayo City Council report on the alleged contaminated Luveve water has revealed that tap water samples collected in the area tested satisfactory while those done on water from an open source in the area had a high bacterial count consistent with the samples collected from the people who suffered from the effects of consuming contaminated water.

The findings insinuate that the affected residents might have consumed water from the contaminated open source.

"At least 20 water samples were sent to the National University of Science and Technology (NUST ) for bacteriological and chemical analysis on June 18. The laboratory is able to identify presence of coliforms both faecal and non faecal; however, cannot test for presence of salmonella," reads the report.

"The preliminary results for water samples sent to NUST were consistent with the findings to the Criterion results."
