Former legislator Norman Mpofu has questioned the rationale behind Ethanol being added into fuel if it makes the fuel so expensive as it is in Zimbabwe.

"Zimbabweans there are questions asked about the purpose of ethanol in our petrol  to make it blend?  If the Ethanol  added to our petrol reduces its quality but increases its price why our adding  it," Mpofu said.

"Something is not adding up here. What is wrong with us Zimbabweans. This is day light robbery. This ethanol is making our petrol expensive while destroying our  engines."

He said the government does not care about the citizens.

"It invites opportunists to exploit us. We don't need this ethanol. There is no advantage in using it. Someone is making a killing. Corruption will kill Zanu PF for us," he said.

The concerns come are the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority increased fuel from between $20 and $23 to between $71 and $73 per litre.
