A Harare police officer was on Friday charged with insulting President Emmerson Mnangagwa after he allegedly posted a message saying "ED must go" on a WhatsApp group.

Milton Murairwa was released on $3 000 bail by a magistrate yesterday after Moses Ngwenya from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human rights took up his case.

Prosecutors said Murairwa posted the message on a WhatsApp group for Mbare-based police officers.

He became the second police officer to be charged with the same offence in two months after Shungudzemoyo Kache was arrested in June.
