Australian-based Zimbabwean on the run over rape

A Zimbabwean man based in Australia is on the run after he allegedly raped his lover whom he had met for the first time.
Bright Ndinaani Nyanhete (24) of Borrowdale Brooke travelled from Australia to meet his lover, aged 36. He allegedly raped her twice without protection.
Bright had linked up with the lover through his sister, Tarisai Mudzangadza, sometime in September. The two started communicating through WhatsApp.
His lover demanded that they go for HIV testing before having sex. However, Bright allegedly raped her twice.
The lover lodged a police report. Bright escaped and is reported to be hiding somewhere around the country.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of Bright.
"Police are investigating a rape case involving lovers," said Insp Chakanza.
"Circumstances are that accused person is a Zimbabwean based in Australia and he is complainant's boyfriend.
"Sometime in September 2024, the accused person met complainant's sister who is also based in Australia and informed her that he wanted a Zimbabwean lady to marry.
"So, complainant's sister linked the accused person to the complainant. The two started communicating and later on became lovers.
"In November 2024, the accused person travelled to Zimbabwe after indicating to the complainant that he wanted to see her facially and have some quality time with her.
"On November 11, 2024, the accused person visited complainant at her residence. Whilst at the residence, the accused demanded sex from the complainant but she refused since she was unaware of accused person's HIV status.
"However, the accused person raped complainant twice without protection and left.
"On November 13, 2024, the complainant revealed the abus€ to her friend and lodged a report against the accused person," said Insp Chakanza.
