President Emmerson Mnangagwa's spokesperson George Charamba says the first case of Coronavirus is a white Zimbabwean man who resides in Victoria Falls.

"A Zimbabwean of Caucasian extraction, resident in Victoria Falls, has tested positive to Coronavirus, the first such case recorded in the country. The Zimbabwean recently travelled to Manchester, UK, and was back in the country on15th March, compliantly putting himself on self-quarantine, in line with National Control Policy," he said.

"He then telephoned his doctors after showing symptoms that suggested infection. A COVID-19 RAPID REACTION TEAM reached him to get samples for tests. The patient received treatment at home and is making good recovery progress. The responsible Ministry urges calmness and exhorts all Zimbabweans to uphold highest standards of hygiene at home and away."
