Employees of the Bulawayo based Gain Cash and Carry have praised their employer for providing a safe working environment in the midst of the deadly COVID 19 pandemic.

In an unsolicited interview on Monday, an employee of Gain Cash and Carry who identified himself as Thulani or Thutz said the employees were happy that the retail sector giant had gone the extra mile to keep employees and consumers safe as the nation battles the pandemic.
"Some employees had to work long shifts to cover the gaps of the unvaccinated employees who had taken days off so that they could get their COVID 19 jabs. Although some workers are not happy with their salaries, they have remained committed to serving the consumers and have faith that as the economy is improving under the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa their salaries and buying power will improve." He added.

The grapevine in Bulawayo had indicated that Gain cash and carry employees were planning on industrial action in protest against low wages and poor working conditions.

Employees who spoke on condition of anonymity revealed that the rumours were created and spread by competitors to steal customers from Gain Cash and carry as wholesale and retail wars escalate in Bulawayo.

Some of the employees added that this is not a new tactic as there have also been unsubstantiated  rumors making the rounds that the owner of Gain Cash And Carry known as Patel is allegedly involved in gold smuggling , illegal forex dealings and externalization.

The employees said they could not confirm whether these allegations are true or false but all they know is that their shops move high volumes which is upsetting their competitors and causing them to resort to these low tactics to spoil their business.

"By making these false allegations people are jeopardizing our jobs. Competitors must learn to be good at their business and not resort to these low life nonsense tricks and games'. Thutz added.
