The annual Miss Zimbabwe-United Kingdom will take place at the Quality Skyline Hotel in the United Kingdom where several women are expected to take part. Young Zimbabwean women aged between 17 and 24 from across the United Kingdom have been shortlisted for the coveted crown.

The pageant, which is running under the theme "Celebrating Beautiful Zimbabwe", will see only limited capacity as admission will be reserved to ticket holders.

According to one of the décor artistes, Tarisai Makwavarara, all was now in place for the pageant.

"As a runner-up in the 2007 Miss Zimbabwe UK myself, seeing the brand conform to this standard is nothing short of fulfilling what I have always been passionate about. I am elated that I am coming back to utilise my talent, expertise and profession to bring a creative edge to the pageant," said Makwava-rara.

She is the sole owner of Divine Creations.

The pageant this week saw some of the models doing studio photo and video shoots in Birmingham and London, courtesy of the sponsors and partners.

Cindy Couture, Sety Designs and Divine Creations have all jumped aboard to exhibit their creative designs during the photo shoots as well to showcase on the night of glamour.

The organisers of the show said it will be a red carpet affair.

"It will be a red carpet event with post- production television exposure," said one of the organisers.

The judges' panel will include Zimbabwe's UK-based community elites from entertainment, radio, books and health personnel.

"It was of immense importance that we have a deep reflection of our grassroots in ensuring the girl who will win is measured holistically across the Zimbabwean lifestyle basis.

"We have Demitriah Karongah, an award winner, Zimbabwean actor Agrena Mushonga, educationist Patience Zingwe as well as radio personality Marshal Gore, an academic with deep influence to our community; and Fahraan Khan, popularly known as Kazz, who through his career has connected so well with the budding community in UK," explained Amanda Kuwana, event co-ordinating executive.

Kamikaze Test Pilots of the Pidigori Waenda remix are set to entertain guests while UK-based Zimbabwean top disc jockeys King Alfred will be on the turntables.
