Varaidzo Dorothy Mabvudzi crowned Miss Zimbabwe UK 2013

The eventful night of the 7th September 2013 in attendance of hundreds of Zimbabweans and friends witnessed the crowning of 2013's Miss Zimbabwe UK. 23year old Varaidzo Mabvudzi who holds a Degree in Commercial Studies & Accounting and currently employed in Hospitality industry fought through eight other highly competitive contestants to scoop both the Miss Personality & the crown.
Miss Personality category was drawn from a combination of online votes and judges' assessment of each contestant's personality through the one to one interaction with members of the judges panel.
"We have been bestowed a very critical task to judge, shortlist and elect ultimate top spot girls who will be the highest possible reflection of the Zimbabwean culture, ethos and reflection. It has not been an easy task, drawing on numerous criteria, but we are confident based on all factors that we have delivered the right verdict. Congratulations to all the participants for putting up the great show", said Marshal Gore, one of the judges.
"This one was something unique to me and I must say I was excited to work with the panel. The event was a true reflection of teamwork and a well synchronised network by the organisers", added another judge, Patience Zingwe.
First runner up was Coventry based 19year old Monalisa Sibanda, a student currently pursuing a degree in Network Security Management.
Flanking the crown holder on the other side is the 2nd Princess 22year old Ella Matilda Bvumbe, a National Vocational certified Sales & Customer Services graduate who runs her own online fashion shop www.lookfab4lessboutique.co.uk.
The night was lit up with Tsungai Tsikira taking to the stage opening with the Zimbabwe National anthem in the country's main dialects, Ndebele and Shona respectively, added by energetic performance with the musical group Flame Lilly which showcased Marimba, the African drum and dances.
Further entertainment in the night was provided by Kamikaze Test Pilots who tore the dance floor apart with their renditions that brought real grass-root reflection. Kubatana Kwakanaka, Rubatsiro and Pidigori Waenda were on the menu and brought the entire gallery to a frenzy of traditional Dance.
UK based renowned Zimbabwean Disk jockeys, King Alfred & DJ Sox did a fantastic job on the decks.
In closing, the visibly emotional Head of the Miss Zimbabwe UK Pageant, Simbarashe Patrick Nyanhanga implored Zimbabweans in United Kingdom to unite and support community initiatives in his vote of thanks.
Miss Zimbabwe UK was hosted by seasoned and naturally flowing Mr. Soxx alongside award winner radio personality Belinda Magejo, the event was sponsored by Moneygram Money Transfers and supported by Rocklane Freight, Siyaso Market, Marie Jernnie Media, UprodTv as well covered by VoxAfrica television.
