HARARE - Veteran journalist and Bulawayo24 News reporter Simbarashe Sithole celebrated his birthday in style on Friday night, transforming Glendale Club OO7 into a vibrant hub of music, laughter and festivities.
The celebrations, which began at around 8pm on Friday, September 25, continued into the early hours of Saturday, with a line-up of artistes entertaining guests throughout the night.
More than just a musical gathering, the event reflected strong bonds of friendship, family and solidarity within Zimbabwe's journalism fraternity.
The celebration was hosted by renowned Mashonaland Central traditional healer Sekuru Nyangatanani, who spared no effort in ensuring Sithole and his guests enjoyed a memorable occasion.
As part of the festivities, Nyangatanani purchased a beast that was slaughtered and prepared for guests, creating a feast that brought people together in a spirit of fellowship and celebration.
Sithole attended the event with his wife and two children, while several colleagues travelled from Harare to join the occasion. Among them were Kundai Marunywa of The Patriot and Regis Chingawu, along with other friends and well-wishers.
The presence of journalists from different media houses added to the atmosphere of camaraderie as colleagues took a break from newsroom demands to celebrate one of their own.
Artistes kept the energy high throughout the night, ensuring guests remained entertained well into the early hours.
For Sithole, the gathering was more than a birthday party. It was a celebration of life, family, friendship and the relationships cultivated over many years in journalism.
The event also highlighted the philanthropic work of Nyangatanani, who is known for assisting disadvantaged families and supporting underprivileged schoolchildren through donations of stationery and the payment of school fees. He has also travelled extensively, including to China, India and several countries within the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
Speaking during the celebrations, Nyangatanani said Sithole's birthday was an opportunity to celebrate not only the man himself but also the people and relationships that have shaped his journey.
"A birthday is not only about adding another year to someone's life. It is about celebrating the journey, the people who have walked with you and the lives you have touched along the way. Today we are celebrating Simba because he is one of our own, and we wish him many more years, good health, success and greater achievements," said Nyangatanani.
His remarks captured the spirit of the evening as guests shared memories, danced and enjoyed the entertainment.
