POPULAR South African Afro-pop musician Patricia Majalisa was in Bulawayo yesterday preparing for two shows lined for Hwange and Bulawayo this weekend.

Majalisa, who arrived in Bulawayo on Monday, was spotted by Southern Eye having lunch at a fast-food outlet in the central business district.

She later visited offices of Southern Eye with her promoter John Kafuta.

In an interview, Majalisa promised to put up top drawer performances when at the Colliery Stadium on Friday and Bulawayo Amphitheatre.

The songstress vowed the shows would be amazing.

"I am promising our fans lots of fun, the old and new stuff. This will be an opportunity to showcase my two albums which I have never performed live in Zimbabwe," Majalisa said.

The albums are Akulalwa and Ephatini.

"The albums are all about having fun and living life to the fullest and responsibly," Majalisa added.

The singer will be supported by South Africans Mpendulo Dandile, S'lindile Mthiyane and local musician Gregory Ncube and Hwange-based George Mbewe.

Majalisa added that a number of new artistes will be given a platform to showcase their abilities like Ludwe Maki, Nicky Nicky who are all in her stable.

Kafuta, the promoter, added: "It is going to be a show to remember. Fans should come in their numbers. We wanted to guarantee our fans Majalisa will perform that's why she came early."

Majalisa's songs that have mesmerised many include Nomathemba and Uwee Uwee (Umqophoqopho).

Under the leadership and mentorship of Dan Tshanda, Majalisa has released numerous albums, among them Umona, which have taken Zimbabwe by storm.

The South African disco and mbaqanga musician left the Dan Tshanda music label, Dalom Kids Records, last year and has established her own Majalisa Records with the assistance of Tshanda.
