Bulawayo born Sakhile Ndlovu is one of the 13 contestants from 10 African countries competing for the title Miss Africa Perth this Saturday the 13th of June. The selection process was earlier this year just literally two weeks after her arrival in Australia to further her studies through a Masters Degree in Professional Communication.

Sakhile completed her schooling at Dominican Convent School from grade one through to A'Levels. After that she was based in South Africa where she got her Bachelors degree and work experience in Digital Marketing and Advertising. In 2014, the ambitious self-starter was based in her hometown and founded a startup company specializing in social media marketing. That experience is what let her to Australia to further develop the business model and she is still currently working on her dream to change Zimbabwe's digital footprint one website at a time.

If she makes it far at the Miss Africa Perth pageant, Sakhile intends to utilize her professional skills to run Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects and encourage 'giving back' to be a reflex action as much as logging onto social media and passively following a viral trend is. Sakhile believes she is in the right environment with the resources to support Zimbabwean community projects and those of other African countries simultaneously, and the African communities abroad are always willing to contribute to projects of this nature.

Miss Africa Perth is a yearly contest that gives the Western Australian based African Community an opportunity to showcase African heritage i.e. culture, fashion, traditions, music, art and beauty. MAP gives young ladies the platform and opportunity they need to make a difference in their own communities. Please visit the Miss Africa Perth Facebook page before the 13th June to vote for Sakhile's photo in the People's Princess Award category which is currently being run for those who cannot be present on the night.
