The writing is on the wall, celebrity hip-hop artists from Bulawayo, Dingi Cash and Cal_vin, have clashed over a phrase. Could this birth beef? Or, it's already been birthed? Ardent followers of these two have called the skirmish a "Luveve vs Gwabalanda Hip-hop Battle." This is because Dingi Cash was born and bred in Gwabalanda, and Cal_vin hails from Luveve.
How did all this start? Here is the story.
Dingi Cash fired the first shots. He wrote on his Facebook page, "Did I hear right?? Cal_vin saying he discovered Ndebele rap but he moved back home from S.A last year. That's like that David Livingstone discovering Victoria Falls or Columbus discovering America."
Former Newsday journalist, Ronald Moyo, quickly observed that the post had a potential to cause enmity between the two artists, he commented, "This is how hip hop beefs start."
Cal_vin however explained in his subsequent comments that he come up with the phrase "Ndebele Rap" not that he discovered Ndebele rap.
Dingi Cash further lambasted his fellow hip-hop artist and said that Cal_vin should have clarified that he came up with the "phrase", and not to say he discovered Ndebele rap. These two phrases "Ndebele Rap" and "Ndebele rap" seem to be the bone of contention.
Could a phrase trigger beef? Only time will tell.
