JOHANNESBURG - Shilolo Entertainment is set to release a smashing debut film/comedy production titled; Madlela: Skhobokhobo Power which portrays the life of Zimbabweans living in South Africa.
The comedy which runs for two hours was produced and written by Mothusi Bashimane Ndlovu and directed by Elvis Phiri assisted by Daniel Ncube and Linda Michael Mkhwananzi.
The play evolves around Madlela, a man who comes to Johannesburg through fraudulent ways, without telling anybody and without a place to live. He then lives with his nephew Daniel 'Mtshana' Ncube who also lives with Noble 'Themba' Khumalo in Nondulo 'Mastanda' Ngwenya's flat. Madlela finds it hard to cope with the demands of living abroad unemployed and then resorts to the rising trend of false phophecy.
"We just want to revive comedy and parade the hardships faced by Zimbabweans in South Africa particularly in the Johannesburg flats. People are forced to share rooms, do whatever work they may find no matter how educated they are and some end-up engaging in armed robberies and other fraudulent activities," said Bashimane.
"The world needs to know the way we live in the diaspora hence we made this comedy. We encourage musicians and other artists to come forward and help each other as a community as we also make music videos," added Bashimane.
Shilolo Entertaiment also produced the videos for Bashimane, Maskandi sensation Mehlokazulu and two tracks from Isichathamiya hit-makers Izinkanyezi Zezulu. The comedy is set to be launched early next month.
