JOHANNESBURG - Mthandeni aka Igcokama Elisha consolidated his position as the Maskandi heir to the throne upon the official launch of his 'Zim branch' at the Berea Park yesterday.
Multitudes from all corners of the country graced the event as it was most probably the best attended event ever held at the Berea Park. MCs Gwaza and Mshazo led dictacted the pace and several muscians from different shared the stage. They included: Amabhukudwana, Amachwane Amahle, Ichwane leNguni, Insukamini and Izinkanyezi Zezulu, to name just a few.
Mthandeni's dominance and fame in Maskandi music hasn't gone unnoticed and his top drawer song composition is paying dividends. He has always struck the right codes since his arrival and thus music to the audience's ears. Yesterday's event was Jesus' wounds to the doubting Thomases.
Mthandeni stole the people's hearts with his mega hit Xenophobia, thus why fellow Zimbabweans love him so much. We launched the branch at the Berea park because we know many people were going to be assisted, especially those who aren't on social networks. To aim to make it one of the biggest branches worldwide," said the branch leader Precious Zimdollar Ndlovu.
"We would like to thank all who attended the event. Artists and the audience as well all who travelled from different and far away places. We had lots of artists from both South Africa and Zimbabwe and we thank the help we got from Mthandeni's KwaPhumelele GP Branch. It is because of the support that Mthandeni has in Zimbabwe that the branch was opened and it is growing everyday," said one of the leaders (and also an MC) Mcasiseli Gwaza Ndlovu.
"Igcokama Elisha went to perform in Zimbabwe in 2014 and his smash hit Malavisto was much loved by the audience. He then released Xenophobia last year under the name Mthandeni, this very popular track was made to encourage South Africans and Africans in general to refrain from xenophobic practices.
"Mthandeni's followers then requested to have a separate Zimbabwean branch since most of them were on the Gauteng branch. Precious Zimdollar Ndlovu came up with the idea and we approved it.
We have had requests for branches to be opened outside the country, we are busy on that and they will be opened soon.
"Engingakusho nje kubathandi bomculo weGcokama nabathandi bomculo wesintu umhlaba wonke sibonga I support asebeyikhombise ku MTHANDENI GCOKAMA ELISHA MANQELE usazoqhubeka nokushaya ingoma emnandi enomlayezo.
