A Bulawayo comedian has taken to the net to question the City Council about its ban on some Harare musicians from holding shows at Amphitheatre.
Roben Mlauzi, a member of IYASA, posted a video of himself on Facebook impersonating ZimDancehall artist Winky-D.
Winky-D is one of the banned Harare artists.
In the video Mlauzi is dressed like Winky-D and is chanting one of his songs.
The video is captioned: "Is this how they make noise?????????? #BCCVSWINKYD #Yikhophela"
The BCC ban has been criticised by some Zimbabweans online. Clayton Ndlovu on Facebook said: "I am shocked that the Bulawayo City Council has taken such a stance without thinking deeply about this.
"Whilst there are other venues like Amakhosi Cultural Centre, Bulawayo City Hall there is no other venue like the Bulawayo Amphitheater.
"The Government for 37 years has failed to recognise the arts as a lucrative industry. Which Building or space has been erected for the purposes of entertainment since independence?
"The Government, particularly the Ministries who are directly involved with creative industries have failed to come up with good policies that foster development in the creative industries. One of these policies should have been to build modern multi purposes venues.
"A space where I can take my children to see our super stars such Dr Mtukudzi, Sandra Ndebele, IYASA Jays...etc. without fear of revelers.
"I am equally shocked that Artists whether from Bulawayo or elsewhere have not reacted to this barbaric stance. An injury to one is an injury to all.
"While Macheso is on top at the moment or is a big artist today, tomorrow it will be AWA or another artist from Bulawayo. So what will happen? Artists in general should petition BCC."
