LOCAL hip-hop and RnB sensation, Shanice Alaina Pullen is the only female musician from Bulawayo to feature on the Gloria Flour song, which features other prominent artistes such as Suluman.
The song - Gloria You Will Rise was released last month and features Jah Prayzah, Sulumani Chimbetu, Selmor Mtukudzi, Sebastian Magacha and Shinsoman.
The song was produced by South African music producer Andrew Bard and was recorded in Harare.
Gloria Flour introduced a national campaign aimed at uplifting women and promoting its products and in so doing roped in Alaina on the campaign.
In an interview, Alaina said she was excited to have been given such an opportunity to feature on a track with established musicians from Zimbabwe.
"I am very happy to have had the opportunity to collaborate with legendary artistes. Considering that I am still young and upcoming. To me it was a great experience and I am happy for participating in Gloria's community tours," she said.
The 21-year-old explained how she got the slot to be part of the project that has seen her touring many cities.
"I was called by an advertising company called Jericho from Harare, who then offered me a position to take part in the making of the song with other artistes. Being the only artiste from Bulawayo, taking part and going to work with big artistes, l just could not say no to such an opportunity and I am very happy and honoured to be part of it," she said.
Alaina also mentioned that she had learnt a lot from working with seasoned artistes.
"Sharing a stage with the likes of Jah Prayzah and Shinso was awesome, especially considering that my sound is completely different from theirs. I learnt a lot of things from just working with these guys, especially blending different genres and adapting to different cultures considering that I am from Bulawayo and I speak SiNdebele and English and I am not conversant with Shona," she said.
With regard to her solo career she said she was grateful to her fans and family.
"Fans are actually supportive, I have performed in Harare and Chitungwiza and people there liked my music," she said.
Alaina began her career in 2008 but took it up professionally in 2014.
In July last year, she managed to release her debut album, Welcome to Me.
This year she released her latest single — We Are Both Loose featuring Bulawayo rapper Mr Kata.
Alaina noted that she would be performing in Botswana over the Easter holiday.
Outside her singing career, Alaina works as a make-up artiste at a company called House of Faith.
