Mthwakazi Republic Party spokesperson Mbonisi Gumbo has dispelled the notion that Mthwakazi people have no talent saying their talent was recently displayed in Hilbrow Theatre South Africa on Saturday.
Who said Mthwakazi have no talent," asked Gumbo. "Mthwakazi got talent, you should have been here at Hilbrow Theatre today to appreciate our Mthwakazi cultures live and direct being played out. I saw even the 5 year olds both girls and boys dancing like nobody business. A shame phansi ngomona."
Gumbo said the silly view of Mthwakazi's detractors is that nothing good can come out of Mthwakazi people.
"It is embarrassing to watch our Mthwakazi Youths performing and exhibiting such a wonderful talent in a foreign Country yet they are not known let alone celebrated in their own motherland. You never come across any of their songs on Ztv, Radio Zimbabwe or any of current Zimbabwe radio stations. You only listen to their music on uKhozi fm of South Africa," Gumbo said.
"Yet you want us to believe we are one country. It doesn't make any sense at all. Today (Saturday) we are at Hilbrow Theatre where I was invited at the official launch of Abafana bakaMzilikazi album. According to the organizers here there are more than 50 Maskandi groups. You will be forgiven to think that you are watching big Maskandi Musicians in Kwazulu Natal, yet it's our own boys abafana base Tsholotsho iziqolo Zezhwane, Abekhezi, Lowergwelo, Lupane, Nkayi, Gwanda, Bulawayo, Hwange, etc."
Gumbo said Vuka Mthwakazi Vuka Sizwe sikaMzilikazi KaMatshobana.
"Now is the time to Restore our culture, our pride, unite in our diversity as we march forward in our quest for self determination. We cannot afford to have our youths being denied their rights to education, culture, exposure and traditions," he said. "It is really unfortunate that we are forced to listen, watch and read about Mashonaland celebrities when we have our talented people. Who are competitive but are denied opportunities to show case their talents at home until they go to foreign countries that nonsense must stop uMthwakazi ngowethu samtshiyelwa ngokhokho bethu. We don't need anyone's approval to belong."
