THE BULAWAYO-BASED and three time ZIMA Award winner Jazz Maestro, Majahawodwa Ndlovu, popularly known as Jeys Marabini ,is set to release his 8th music video album in few weeks. "The shooting has started and I hope by end of this month it will be out," Jeys said to Linkundla.
The 12 track album was officially launched in Bulawayo in March . Who can forget that day which was coloured with dazzling acts punctuated with energetic dances and timeless acoustic tunes ?
As per his norm, every album is complemented with a video, "I am currently shooting music videos to promote my new album Thula Sana, which was released early this year. So far I have covered the tracks like Diaspora and Thula Sana," the legendary Jeys continued.
The Kozekulunge band frontman has toured numerous countries but now believes that its time for him to stay within home boundaries. However commenting on fellow artists in diaspora Jeys said, "they must keep going, there is no short cut if you want to be a successful musician. Above all they must learn to appreciate others and learn from them."
Those who have not yet bought the latest album can get it at $10.00 each, "we are also uploading the whole album on iTunes for the benefit of those in diaspora," he said.
Through his record label the 10TH District Music Jeys has never failed to please the fans, thus earning himself the title ‘The Pride of Bulawayo' in Herald. He was once quoted early in February by the New Zimbabwean saying that his new album is set "to prove that a prophet can be honoured and celebrated in his own background," and he went on to declare war against piracy through the exploitation of new technology.
Along his musical journey he has penned eight albums namely: Emarabini , Thuthukani Ngothando, Sounds of today, Jeys Marabini One Time, Izenzo, Jeys @40 , Silo and Thula Sana. All these albums except 'Thula sana' ,are complemented with videos including the 2004 live DVD that left Bulawayo asking for more.
Besides being on stage Jeys has extensively worked hard to promote other artists around Bulawayo and abroad. The successful musician is a humble father who is always open to business as long as it is along arts line.
Maybe it is now time for fans to get more of his music via local stations if the Deputy Minister of Information Media and Broadcasting Services Thokozile Mathuthu's promises are to be fulfilled in due course. "If we can broadcast for 24 hours, those who pay licences and for those who want their music or productions to be played, we will be having about 12 broadcasting stations", she said to Bulawayo24 News.
"I am sure for those who were complaining that they are not getting enough airplay, they will be having more times because we will be having more stations," she concluded.
For instant updates fans are encouraged to stay tuned on the musician's Facebook page: Jeys Marabini , Instagram and for a detailed biography go to www.jeysmarabini.com, videos can be watched via YouTube and for bookings inquire via the Facebook official page.
