Sport FM which is popularly known as SFM is being rebranded and will tomorrow be known as Classic263.
Respected Journalist Clarkson Mambo revealed on Twitter.
Said Mlambo, "So the radio station that we all knew as SFM Zimbabwe is being rebranded & will from tomorrow be known as @Classic263."
Sport FM s one of the four radio stations in Zimbabwe owned by the state, controlled by the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation which was formerly known as the Rhodesian Broadcasting Corporation (RBC). It was formerly known as Radio 1.
Radio 1 catered for Zimbabweans of European ancestry during the colonial era as well as in the post-colonial era as it was an all English radio station. After the rebranded from Radio 1 to Sport FM the station converted into an 18 hour per day sports station, however, the station's programme is now diverse covering issues from parliamentary debates and current affairs amongst other issues.
