Harare based Hangasa dancing queens proved popular than Sungura prodigy Romeo Gasa of the Extra Valembe band in Mvurwi Mashonaland Central yesterday.
Gasa was performing at Mvurwi council bar where he performed for four people at $2 admission fee, while the Hangasa queens were at the most popular Dendere night club where it was filled to capacity.
Despite the opening of tobacco auction floors, Gasa who had well-advertised his show flopped as most revellers claimed that they did not know his songs hence they opted to go for dancing queens to get a glimpse of sexy dance moves.
"This artist (Gasa) is charging a reasonable fee but you see the problem is his music is not popular amongst us we only hear of the name and Simbi Hombe hit of 2014 so l cannot part with my $2 for 1 song only," said Munyaradzi Mupambwa.
However, in Dendere night club Hangasa queens left fans clamouring for more since most beer patrons were jostling to have a feel of the ladies body.
The dance group is comprised of Mauld Mapaike (26) the director, Emily Chikono (27) manager, Julian Mpofu (25) and Gloria Chiropa (28) who are full time dancers .
According to Mapaike Hangasa was formed in 2014 due to poverty since all the girls are of poor backgrounds and have since become bread winners in their families.
"We formed this group out of poverty since there are no jobs in Zimbabwe but as able boded people we should do something to earn a living.
All of us are breadwinners and we take care of our mothers but it our wish to find loving husband and leave this business since our revellers do not have full respect of us," she said.
