Ace Zimbabwean Rhumba music outfit Mlambos Express Band popularly known as the "Super Legends" have dedicated the month of May to the memory of their slain member Thuthani "Mabharetha" Ndlovu.
The rhumba outfit which has taken the Zimbabwean airwaves and rhumba fans by storm and certainly set for greater heights have arranged several shows in the country and in South Africa throughout the month of May. The shows are specially dedicated to the memory of their member Thuthani Ndlovu who died in a shooting incident on 23 May last year in Johannesburg South Africa.
The shows commence with what is certainly billed to be the biggest music concert for Zimbabweans in Johannesburg at Safari International Hotel in the heart of Johannesburg on the 2nd of May. The show billed "Shayan' ingoma bangane bami" a phrase which the late "Mabharetha" always used every time he took the microphone to lead the group in song is expected to be a sale out as the tickets have been selling very fast since they were made available.
From Johannesburg, the group takes the memorial concepts back home to Gwanda, Esigodini, Bulawayo and Plumtree on their way back to Johannesburg via Francistown Botswana. The group which has undoubtedly won them self the title of being the best stage performers at the moment have vowed not to disappoint their fans particularly in Zimbabwe where they will be holding their first shows in the towns mentioned.
Speaking in an interview in Bulawayo, band manager Thulani Ndlovu promised Mlambos Fans to brace themselves for the best ever performance as the group remembers their "Super Legend" Mabharetha. Ndlovu said the group will perform all the songs which were composed by Mabaretha together with all their hits particularly the people's favourite "AmaFacebook" which is slowly making in roads into the country's top 20 songs.
"People must come in their numbers for shows of their life time to see the best of Zimbabwean dance. We will bring out our best as we remember our brother and introduce ourselves to those who have not yet encountered with us," said Ndlovu. He assured the fans that the much talked about darling of the crowds "Godolude" who is already being billed as the best rhumba dancer in the country will be available smiling as usual.
Thuthani akaMabharetha was shot dead by a Somalian business man in Diepsloot Johannesburg last year when the group was on a promotional tour of their album Sejwale Jwale which apparently features songs composed by the late super star. The trial of the Somalian failed to come to an end when the accused skipped bail in South Africa and failed to appear in court on the day when judgement on the case was meant to be passed. Thuthani's death raised a huge uproar amongst people of Diepsloot leading to a minor xenophobic war between Zimbabweans and South Africans against Somalians in the high density informal Johannesburg settlement.
