A new hilarious comedy titled Kiriboni-the Menace has been unveiled.
The comedy is about the life of a notorious character called Kiriboni played by film producer and director Sadat Sanhewe.
The role of Kiriboni is played by main actor and producer, Sanhewe who is also the lead producer.
The character of Kiriboni is of a man who unleashes havoc in his neighbourhood while trying to sustain a lifestyle that is beyond him.
He swindles his neighbours of money in an effort to catch the attention of his attractive tenant Evelyn.
Kiriboni, which won an award for the best actor, film and television in the National Merit Awards, is now being turned into a series of a comedy with events that involve the use of Juju.
Kiriboni's life is made unbearable and efforts to reverse the 'spell' that puts him in an awkward position as he is supposed to pay more than 10-fold what he had paid in the first place.
"The comedy is centred on the mischievous Kiriboni who is in the habit of conning his friends. His plan backfires when he seeks the services of a traditional healer to get Evelyn to fall for him," said Sanhewe.
Kiriboni then goes into a conning spree in order to raise the money and in no time he is in problems with people in his home area.
The comedy is staged in a high-density suburb in Harare and what has proved it to be popular is that it touches on the lighter side of day-to-day lives.
It is acted in Shona and was written and directed by Raymond Mudyiwenyama.
Other actors include Hilder Mugare, Mary Gweshe and Stephen Mutenya who acted as Fatso.
The 90 minute comedy which took more than two weeks of editing already has a follow up series on the cards.
The production house, Chifamba films, has other successful movies to their name which was nominated for the best movie production at this year's NAMA Awards.
