DStv subscribers in Zimbabwe can now watch e.tv Africa on DStv Channel 144. The 24-hour African version of the South African free-to-air channel e.tv started broadcasting on the pay television satellite platform on Tuesday.
e.tv Africa is now available on DStv Premium, Compact Plus, Compact, Family and Access bouquets.
MultiChoice Zimbabwe PR and publicity manager, Elizabeth Dziva said DStv had decided to include e.tv on their bouquets due to its public demand.
"Due to demand from viewers, e.tv Africa is now available on all DStv bouquets in Zimbabwe," said Dziva.
Initially, the channel was only accessed by those in South Africa before it was blocked on Wiztech and Philibao decoders. The channel will have local hit series, Rhythm City, Scandal, Backstage, eKASI, Club 808, Craz-e, as well as Forgive & Forget.
The service will also provide two half-hour e-News Africa bulletins (6pm and 7pm). These bulletins focus on pan-African news and provide international news for Africans by Africans.
She said the expansion formed part of DStv's broader strategy to provide entertainment produced on the continent to other countries besides South Africa.
Besides e.tv, MultiChoice has also added a Food Network channel on the DStv platform. The 24-hour channel, which was launched on December 2, is available to all DStv Premium, Compact and Compact Plus subscribers on Channel 185.
Dziva said: "We know our subscribers love food and watching food channels.
"MultiChoice is very happy to reintroduce a 24-hour food channel on the DStv platform. As we are heading into the festive season, we are especially delighted to give our subscribers this gift of a dedicated food channel to help them to prepare their festive season feasts."
