The successful negotiation of a $280 million network expansion deal signed between Zimbabwe and China last year on behalf of state owned mobile network, NetOne, is expected to open avenues for other Chinese investors in the local information communication technology (ICT) sector.
After the deal, the government has extended an invitation to other Chinese companies to invest in the country's ICT sector.
Chinese ambassador to Zimbabwe, Ambassador Lin Lin paid a courtesy call on the Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Supa Mandiwanzira at his offices in Harare.
Mandiwanzira, who was in the company of his deputy, Win Mlambo and the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Engineer Sam Kundishora then held a closed door meeting with the ambassador.
Mandiwanzira said the door is open for more Chinese players to invest in the local ICT sector.
