Ministry of Environment, Climate, Tourism and hospitality industry has said they are going to identify more potential tourism products in Mashonaland Central to increase the Province's GDP and create employment.
This came to light yesterday when Minister Mangaliso Ndhlovu was commissioning the World Tourism Day at Paradise Pools in Bindura.
In his speech, Hon Ndhlovu acknowledged the vast potential tourist attractions in the province and promised to closely work with relevant authorities to unlock the potential found in the beautiful province.
"In this pursuit, we will work closely with local authorities and community leaders to develop concrete development plans towards creation of a vibrant tourism led economic growth in the province.
To that end, my Ministry has deployed a Provincial Officer to be part of your team Hon Minister, to help you derive maximum benefits from tourism," he said.
In agreement, Mashonaland Central Minister of State and Devolution Hon Monica Mavhunga applauded the Ministry of Environment for the gesture.
"Indeed, we welcome the opening of offices in the province as a clear deliberate strategic step to catapult the development and growth of tourism sector," she said.
However, Bindura residents believe more has to be done so as to boost the province's tourism sector.
Edison Ziwome said," This is a beautiful place but what is needed is proper maintenance and also the road Infrastructure to some possible tourism sites is bad like the road to Paradise pools."
The Ministry of Environment is also working towards changing the investment landscape in Mashonaland Central and this includes development of the Kanyemba area.
