Côte d'Ivoire - UNOCI Force Commander receives Swiss Ambassador

ABIDJAN, Côte d'Ivoire - The Force Commander of the UN Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI), General Gnakoudé Béréna, had a meeting with the Ambassador of Switzerland to Côte d'Ivoire, His Excellency David Vogelsanger, on Thursday 26 January 2012 at UNOCI's headquarters in Abidjan.
At the end of the meeting, which lasted almost one hour and was attended by Deputy Force Commander General Talla Niang, Ambassador Vogelsanger explained the reasons for his visit.
"I came today, first of all to learn about the security situation from the military side of UNOCI, but also to thank the Force for the marvellous support I received from the Moroccan batallion during my visit to the West last week," the Swiss Ambassador said. He added that throughout his visit, he had benefitted from an escort from the battalion and from its hospitality.
Welcoming the progress registered in the area of security, Ambassador. Vogelsanger concluded by explaining that during his discussions with generals Béréna and Niang, emphasis was placed on "the concrete steps that the force is going to undertake soon to further improve security in this country.
