Zimbabweans arrested in SA for house breaking

Two metered taxi drivers, a gardener and two Zimbabwean nationals were among the eight suspects arrested during the past two weeks for house breakings in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.
The arrests follow investigations by SAPS Town Hill officers to bring to book a gang of house robbers who operated in Wembley and Clarendon.
The eight were arrested and various items, including a firearm, electrical equipment, bicycles and a flat screen television, valued at about R20 000, were recovered.
Police spokeswoman, Lieutenant Joey Jeevan, said the first incident occurred on March 20, when three men allegedly broke into a house on Roberts Road.
"They ransacked the house and took two bicycles, a compressor and various other electrical tools. Town Hill police were alerted and responded immediately," Jeevan said.
The men were spotted in the area and arrested. All the stolen goods were found in their possession and were returned to the owner.
Makabongwe Mazibuko, 22, Nhlanhla Miya, 22, and Sinethemba Simelane, 22, appeared in court on Friday and were remanded in custody until April 11. In the second incident, on Easter Monday, SAPS Town Hill officers, received information on the whereabouts of men who had allegedly broken into a house on Cordwalles Road, in Wembley.
The information led police to two houses in the Cinderella Park area where they arrested 40-year-old Dennis Moyo, Libanon Joe, 23, and Believe Dube, 22. Moyo had been employed for the past three years by the family who were burgled. He was found in possession of the homeowner's .38 special revolver and was charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Jeevan said a gun safe, clothing, a brush cutter, a DVD player, cellphone accessories and cooldrinks were also found in their possession.
A tip-off led police to two metered taxi drivers, identified as Patrick Nomgca, 32, and Ayanda Matyolo, 26, whose taxis were allegedly used to transport the stolen property. They were also arrested and charged.
The men appeared in court on Wednesday and were remanded in custody until April 10.
