A 21-year-old man was arrested by Diepsloot Police this week after allegedly raping a three year old male dog in his room.
Two women - who live in the same yard in extension 6 as the alleged dog rapist - told Daily Sun that the accused picked up the neighbour's dog in front of them. He opened its mouth and stuck his fingers in the dog's mouth.
The alleged rapist then took the dog, called Fetch, with him into his room and shut the door. They peeped through the window and saw him lay his blanket on the floor before getting on top of the animal.
The two witnesses said the man had dog hair on his chest when he came out of the room and immediately went to a tap to wash himself.
Residents soon heard of the incident and vowed to discipline him harshly. Woman gathered around the yard, saying they were afraid that if he was capable of raping a dog, he could rape their children too.
"This man is an animal! Why can't he go to the freeway to buy a prostitute instead of raping a dog? He deserves to be killed or thrown in jail for the rest of his life," fumed Evelyn Vundla (44).
When the police questioned him, he said: "I live alone and I was praying in my room with the dog."
The dog's owner Sello Ratapa (19) said: "I am disappointed in my neighbour. He is still young ... one wonders what went wrong?"
The SPCA's Debbie Kegel confirmed that the dog was taken for a medical check-up and that a case was opened at Diepsloot Police Station.
Diepsloot Police Warrant Officer Daniel Mavimbela said: "A 21-year old man was arrested and will be charged with bestiality. He will appear in the Pretoria Magistrates Court soon."
