Zimbabwe has resolved to withdraw its uniformed forces on the UN peacekeeping mission in Liberia, which has been hit by the deadly Ebola virus, that has also spread to other West African countries.

President Robert Mugabe confirmed the development, saying the decision was reached after consultations with the Ministry of Health and Child Care.

The Zimbabwean contingent serving in Liberia consists of police and prison officers.

President Mugabe said Zimbabwe is not panicking but taking a precautionary measure.

On another health issue, Mugabe said the cabinet and senior business people are reluctant to have medical checks once in every six months, a move he said is very irresponsible.

President Mugabe added that some people are not being faithful and urged them to disclose their HIV status to their partners
