JOHANNESBURG - One of the families of two Soweto boys who were crushed to death by a concrete pipe in Braamfischerville say they will be leaving for Zimbabwe this morning, where they will bury him .
Seven-year-old Brian Mahlentombi and his friend Minenhle Sibanda were playing near a construction site this week when one of the pipes rolled and hit them.
It's alleged the pipes had been left unattended to for more than two weeks.
The families are now demanding answers from the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) and its contractors.
Mahlentombi's uncle, Brian Kwinjo says the bodies were identified and the family is planning going back to Zimbabwe.
"We have identified the body and he was seriously injured. So we are planning back home to Zimbabwe."
Meanwhile, the road agency said operations have been suspended at a site in Soweto where two boys were crushed to death by the concrete pipe they'd been playing on.
The roads agency said a R30 million project is currently underway in the township that will see open stormwater drains being converted to underground systems.
It said officials are working with police to investigate the accident.
