Johannesburg - Two women were arrested in Freedom Park on Friday for allegedly running an illegal clinic, Gauteng police said.

They were found in possession of medical equipment and medicine valued at about R20 000, Captain Philemon Khorombi said.

The women, aged 37 and 53, treated people in their shack, in a housing settlement on the outskirts of Eldorado Park.

"We received a complaint from the SA Nursing Council... we are still investigating the details of this operation."

A nurse in the Eastern Cape, Nombeko Shirly Horner-Taylor, appeared in Court in July after she was allegedly found in possession of "everything used to run a hospital".

She was one of four provincial nurses arrested in the last three months for allegedly running an illegal clinic.
