ON Friday last week Lihle Zuma (22) told his father he felt guilty about his girlfriend's abortion .
His parents thought he felt better after they had spoken to him.
But then his guilt got the better of him. On Monday morning the body of President Jacob Zuma's grandson Lihle was found by his friends.
He had hanged himself from a mango tree near his house in KwaMashu, KZN.
Lihle had been staying with his blind uncle, Prime Zuma (65).
Prime told Daily Sun that Lihle woke him up at 5am on Monday and asked to borrow his belt.
"I gave him my belt and I went back to sleep.
"Later, children knocked at my door and told me Lihle was hanging from a tree outside," said Prime.
Prime said Lihle was depressed and had started drinking heavily.
Lihle's mum, Zodwa Zuma (45), said when Lihle spoke to his father he was crying.
"He said he saw himself as a killer and he had no reason to live," said Zodwa.
Zodwa's father, Amon Zuma, is President Zuma's cousin. Their fathers are brothers from Inkandla.
Lihle's girlfriend's mum, Sibongile Dlamini (45), said her daughter did not abort, but suffered a miscarriage.
"They even went to the local clinic, where they were told the baby was not healthy," said Sibongile.
Lihle's death follows that of Thembi Zuma, another of the president's relatives, who was buried last month.
At the funeral President Zuma spoke about how heartbroken he was about the deaths in his family.
The Zuma family spokesman, Michael Zuma, confirmed that they have family in KwaMashu and said that he knew Zodwa, Lihle's mum.
He said he did not know Lihle himself because they were a big family.
"I will not deny or confirm the death," he said.
Major Thulani Zwane said the cops are investigating.
