EMZINI Wezinsizwa star Mkhize has been laid to rest.
On Saturday his funeral service was led by Father Julian Davey of St Michael's Catholic Church in Red Hill, Durban.
Daily Sun reported that Mkhize, whose real name was Roland Mqwebu, was 74 years old.
The actor never missed a church service and always strived to love his family and keep them together.
Father Julian said: "The church building is not big and couldn't hold everyone who wanted to attend.
Mqwebu feared God and always sat on the same bench, near the door."
Mqwebu's daughter, Slindile, said: "My dad was a family man and a peacemaker. He was an incredible father. We miss him already."
His daughter-in-law, Nomusa Mqwebu, the mayor of the Hibiscus Municipality on the KZN South Coast, said: "Baba taught me to love everyone in the family."
Mqwebu is survived by his wife Pinkie and children Ntuthuko, Slindile, Manqoba and Andile and nine grandchildren.
